InI’ll take mine with extra tzatziki. I’ve only heard a few people pronounce Gyro correctly. It’s pronounced as “Euro”, not “Gy-ro”.

I love gyros, but I nearly always drip them all over myself...

There is a little Greek stall in the market near me. It’s just a small kebab spit, microwave, two grill tops but he had a passion for making things just right. The pork gyro was amazing. I don’t fancy the idea of the halloumi gyro but I would go back to try the chicken gyro next.

We just got a Taziki’s Cafe in my city. If you’re unaware of this chain, its menu says it’s “inspired by Mediterranean cuisine,” which is a polite way of saying that it’s as Greek as Panda Express is Chinese. Lamb gyro ain’t bad though.
HOWEVER, a 1.25-hour drive to the East puts you at Papa Gyro’s , and that’s some good stuff right there. I believe my wife and I will eat there this Saturday while her Outback is in for 12,000 mile service.

We used to have a place called Austin’s Greek Oven that closed and their gyros were awesome. Simple Greek is a chain but I’m impressed by it, food always tastes really fresh.

Sounds about like my Taziki’s Cafe. They didn’t have the gyro meat on a vertical spit (so is it really even a “gyro,” then?), but they were actually cooking raw meat there. I was expecting it to have been pre-cooked and frozen, honestly.

There’s this little hole in the wall here called Cedar Valley Cafe that has amazing Gyros. I usually get a side of stuffed grape leaves and hummus with mine.

I like any restaurant that’s described as a hole in the wall. They always seem to have the best food.

They set up shop in a defunct fast food building, so the atmosphere is crap, but the food is great!
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

Last week I had a gyro burger at a Chicago specialty place next to the Boeing store. I don’t know what the hell I was thinking. All the good stuff from a gyro stuffed onto a burger. I didn’t need to eat again for a day. Way too much in just one sandwich.

That sounds fantastic. I was just thrilled with my regular gyro, I can’t imagine also having a burger in there.
